A Case Study for the Partial Redesign of the NGBVLC Website

Background

I was brought in by Taylor Wegner on behalf of the National Gender-Based Violence Learning Community to evaluate their website. Usability testing occurred, including a cognitive walk through, and we then asked two representative users to walk us through their use of the product, laying out the following key findings and user stories.

Cognitive Walk Through

Our cognitive walk through consisted of testing key user tasks given to us by the client, breaking them up into individual actions, assessing them based on four questions, and then providing feedback as to whether or not the action and task were usable. The following embed relays our findings, or they can be found as a google sheet here.

Prototyping

Next I prototyped a solution, focusing mostly on the third key finding and the second user story. I wanted to make the process of finding a course, taking a course, and viewing your credentials easier. The following is my Figma prototype as an embed, or it can be found here.

Voice Over Video Walk Through

Lastly I recorded myself giving a walk through of the prototype, as follows.

Next Steps

If I were to continue iterating on this design, I would next mock up new designs for the other webpages that could theoretically be linked to in the prototype, such as About Us, Help, Accessibility, Active Courses, and Past Courses. Though the scope of this project did not include redesigning the whole website or integrating our findings into the live version, it would be possible to do a complete redesign in the future.
