About Me
Hello world, my name is Caitlyn Carmabella and I am Designer and Developer.
I am freelancing while studying in Espoo, Finland, and am available to work remotely or from the Greater Helsinki Area. Suomen kielen taitoni ei ole vielä kovin hyvä, mutta opiskelen aktiivisesti ja parannan jatkuvasti taitojani.
You can view my resume here, and ask me anything at my email or on my Linkedin, both of which can be found in the right-most corners of any page on this website.
Why Tech?
The short answer is I’ve never not been interested in technology. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t fascinated with computers and how they worked, and I was that kid who took stuff apart to try and see if I could put them back together again. This was not always the case, much to my parents’ dismay.
Why UX?
User experience is a happy marriage of graphics, digital technology, market research, and empathically caring for people. And that’s basically everything I do on a regular basis. This is the kind of thing I’d be doing anyway for fun, and that has developed into a deeply satisfying way of working out problems.
Why Me?
I’m not just good at what I do, I pick things up shockingly fast, and am genuinely excited about this kind of work. If there’s a problem that needs solving, I will either find a solution or find someone who can, all the while learning to do it myself. But my drive to learn and my willingness to devote myself to problem solving isn’t the only thing that makes me unique. I have an extremely varied background that gives me perspective on things that most people will never get. Not only do I know what it’s like to be in a vast variety of user groups, I can easily put myself in another’s point of view with active listening and empathy. I’m also good at coming with something on the spot, communicating with the developers, and love to get hands-on and in the moment, no matter what kind of work it is.
In my free time, I’m a tabletop GM, an avid board gamer, and a general nerd. I also craft anything I can get my hands on, from fiber arts to painting, to woodworking, to chain-mail. I am seeking opportunities in technology to utilize my creative energy and unique set of problem-solving skills to help better myself, a workplace, products, and the world.
